In the age of technology, building a successful business is about more than just great products and social posts; it’s about creating and maintaining meaningful connections. A social post can share your message and increase brand awareness, but it can’t replace the value of a friendly face and a thoughtful conversation with a guest that walks through your door. When it comes to mastering the perfect combination of both an online presence and the personal touch, Nautical Bowls OverlandPark does just that.

Overland Park started their journey by immersing themselves in local organizations and in turn, learned some valuable principles that drive their business operations and social media presence. When Dave and Jan inker embarked on their Nautical Bowls journey (even before opening their doors) they became involved with a local networking group called the ACA Business Club – a community that they feel is responsible for why they are still in business today.

Through their connection with the ACA Business Club, Overland Park adopted one of their founding principles – one of the ways to best promote yourself, is to promote others. Dave says that, “I’ve noticed that so many different times when you promote yourself, it is very transparent and you get very little engagement. You always get better engagement any time that you can talk about somebody else.”

With this principle at the forefront, guiding all they do, Overland Park has applied this to the way they approach social media, guest interactions, and beyond. On social media, you can see tailored promotions to promote local business and causes, or even just to highlight a special someone – like teachers, mothers or graduates.

Dave also does not miss an opportunity to hop on Instagram stories to add a personal touch and wish his followers to have a great day – something that sets him apart from just pushing his brand and product. At Overland Park, they don’t miss a chance to be present and show their community the appreciation they have for being a part of it.

We know that when running a business with all that it encompasses, it can sometimes feel like there is little room left for adding anything more – like searching for opportunities to get involved within your community. When this happens, try considering the connections that walk through your front door! Each guest offers a unique opportunity to personally connect and with that, the opportunity to get involved might be right in front of you.

When asked about what advice he would share with fellow franchisees to help add that personalization to your brand and your online presence, while also emphasizing the importance of highlighting others, Dave said, “Don’t be afraid to look at what others are doing, find similarities, and tailor those ideas to fit your own business. The more you highlight someone else, the more you get involved by default.” A philosophy that Nautical Bowls’ could not agree with more. When you take a moment to tag and promote someone else, not only are you lifting up those within your community, you are also reaching their following and coming off much more authentically than any self promotion.

Through consistent community involvement and strategic online interactions, Nautical Bowls Overland Park has transformed their budding business into a well-established store. Today, they continue to thrive, leveraging the lessons learned from their early days to foster a loyal customer base and a strong online presence.
